Dear Parenting God,
your word presses us to move from childhood to maturity,
from milk to meat.
We learn the sad truth that it is impossible to restore to repentance
those who once were enlightened and tasted your goodness.
Forgive us for frequently trifling with your word.
You are a just God and will not overlook the work and love shown for Jesus’s sake
in the service given to the saints.
By the Spirit’s encouragement may be diligent in living the Christian life,
so as to realize the full assurance of hope to the very end.
We rejoice in the hope we have,
a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul,
a hope that enters the inner shrine
behind the curtain where Jesus entered,
a forerunner on our behalf.
He became a high priest forever,
according to the order of Melchizedek.
Thanks be to you, our God. Amen.
